the room before morning
this is a sample grimoire entry, written to explore the shape of the site.
there is an hour when the room belongs to neither yesterday nor today. the window is still dark. the kettle has not quite decided to boil. on the desk, a notebook lies open to a sentence that seemed necessary the night before.
in this hour, nothing asks to be finished. a thought can remain a thought. a page can hold a question without rushing to become an answer.
a small ritual
i clear a space no larger than a book. not the whole desk, not the whole life. just enough room to put something down and see it clearly.
a cup. a pencil. the sentence from last night.
the ritual matters because it is repeatable. it does not require a new season or a better version of myself. it asks for a few minutes and the willingness to notice what is already here.
attention begins with making room for something that cannot demand it.
leaving a thread
before the light changes, i write one more line. sometimes it follows the first. sometimes it contradicts it. both are ways of returning.
the notebook closes with something unfinished inside. that is useful. tomorrow, there will be a thread to pick up.
